Cyberpunk 2077 recently got a big overhaul with update 2.0, just before the release of its big DLC "Phantom Liberty". The latest update not only improves the game, but also caused a huge surge in player numbers.
As you all should know by now, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive its first big DLC with Phantom Liberty on September 26. While Cyberpunk had its fair share of issues on release, specifically on consoles, it was regularly updated and is now an incredible game. Phantom Liberty will deliver a ton more content and also new gameplay features.
However, before Phantom Liberty is released CD Projekt launched the huge Update 2.0, which introduces a lot of changes. And this update already was enough for a lot of players to return to Night City.
Cyberpunk Player Numbers Soaring On Steam
If you take a look at the steam charts, you can see a massive surge in player numbers just after the release of Update 2.0:
As you can see, there are more and more active players every day, and we just reached a new high of 165,000 active players in one day. Obviously, this is still far from the all-time peak during the initial release with more than one million concurrent players, but keep in mind that the Phantom Liberty DLC isn't even out yet. We expect the player count to get another significant boost on September 26.
