Lords of the Fallen Co-Op & PvP Multiplayer Explained

Lords of the Fallen's co-op multiplayer lets it stand out from many other games in the genre. And of course there is a (limited) PvP mode in the game as well. But how do they work? We'll show you what you need to do to play Lords of the Fallen with your friends.

If you were wondering whether you would be able to play Lords of the Fallen in co-op mode with a friend, we can easily answer your question: yes, Lords of the Fallen has a co-op multiplayer mode. You can play Lords of the Fallen with up to two players total.

Being able to traverse between realms with a friend will make the long playtime of Lords of the Fallen go by in a flash. But first, how can you even play in multiplayer mode?

Lords of the Fallen has made it decidedly easy to play in multiplayer with a friend, at least for a Souls-like game.

All you have to do to either invite a friend or join a friend's game is:

  • Go to a Vestige or planted Vestige.
  • Select "beckon lampbearer" to host the game and invite a friend, or select "accompany lampbearer" to join a friend's game.
  • That's it!

So, once you've found your first Vestige in Lords of the Fallen, you can immediately start playing with a friend. The great thing is that, if you wish to do so, you two can play together all the way through the game!

If you are not the cooperative type and instead are lusting for blood, you can engage in the game's PvP mode. To get started, you have to choose the option "slaughter lambearer" in the multiplayer menu.

Differences While Playing Together

What does the multiplayer mode change about Lords of the Fallen, though? Is the game balanced enough to keep it challenging for players?

Your level will actually be adjusted to the host's level to keep the game challenging and to make sure no one is overpowered.A really helpful feature that the Lords of the Fallen co-op mode has, is that the summoned player can be revived pretty much an unlimited amount of times when they die. The host player will just have to go where the other player died and heal them.

However, the joined player only has one life and won't go to Umbral after dying. The host doesn't have to deal with any of this: If they die, it works just like it does normally in the game and they can't be revived.

Sadly, Lords of the Fallen's co-op mode isn't fully seamless, like you might imagine it would be. The player that joins the host's game will not be able to collect fallen loot, like weapons or rings and only gets Vigor from defeated enemies. However, they will be able to buy items from merchants and upgrade stats as they please.

Additionally, only the host will be able to teleport to the Umbral realm.

So, while the Lords of the Fallen multiplayer mode seems pretty fun, it will have some drawbacks for players. At least in this Souls-like game, you can actually play together until the end of the game without too many issues.
