If you want to use magic while fighting in Lords of the Fallen, it's best to know what the different types of magic are that you can wield. In Lords of the Fallen, there are three main schools of magic to pick from: Radiance, Rhogar and Umbral.

But what are the differences between the three schools, and how can you even get spells in Lords of the Fallen?

First and foremost: there are more than just these three magic systems, but the other magic types are much smaller and thus don't have their own schools of magic, as far as we know at the moment.

So don't worry, there are also spells for other elements, such as frost and poison, they just aren't as big in Lords of the Fallen . But now, let's get into the three main schools of magic!

Radiance

The first school on our list is Radiance, which is the holy magic of the god Orius. This type of magic scales with the Radiance stat and will mainly provide you with buffs, cleansing and healing. Radiance spells are not limited to defensive spells, though. You can also learn lightning magic, which will then allow you to use bolts, orbs and lances in Lords of the Fallen, which can be pretty powerful.

Rhogar

Rhogar follows the magic of the god of chaos, Adyr, and takes the form of mostly offensive fire spells. Therefore, this type of magic scales with the Inferno stat. Scaling this stat will eventually let you throw fireballs, cast meteors from the heavens and also project jets of fire.

Umbral

The third type is Umbral magic, which lets you use the magic of the Umbral realm. You can deal quite a bit of damage with this magic type, but it is much slower than other types. Umbral magic scales with the Inferno and Radiance stats, which is great, so you don't have to use all your points just for one type of magic.

Umbral magic lets you take out large groups of enemies, as you can cast magical time-bombs. Plus, you can also increase the damage your weapons deal by coating them in "death energy".

Now that we know what types of magic there are, how can we get spells in Lords of the Fallen?

Gaining new spells isn't too tricky, you'll probably pick some up without intentionally looking for new spells. Here are four ways you can get new spells:

  • Kill enemies (supposedly they will drop the spells that they are using)
  • Explore the area and open chests to find spells as loot
  • Learn new spells from NPCs
  • Buy spells

Those are some easy ways to obtain new spells in Lords of the Fallen. If you need more help while playing Lords of the Fallen, check out some of our other guides:
