XDefiant was planned to release in summer 2023, but it turned out that fans will have to wait a little longer than expected for Ubisoft's answer to Call of Duty. A leaker now claims to know the exact release date.
Have you heard about Ubisoft's XDefiant yet? No? Then allow us to provide a very brief overview. XDefiant is an upcoming arcade shooter that's trying to be like a more competitive version of CoD (think BO4):
- It's going to feature 6vs6 and 4vs4 versions of classic shooter modes like Hardpoint / King of the Hill, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Team Deathmatch.
- You will choose to play as one of a number of factions, and each of the XDefiant factions will give players an additional ability they can use in-game.
- The setting is present day/near-future, with all the weapons you're familiar with like M4s and MP5s, and abilities like active camo and bubble shield.
- They're consulting with former pro players from similar games, like Aches (aka Patty P), because they want this game to have a deliberately high skill-ceiling.
TL;DR if you're sick of Battle Royales and want an old-school arcade shooter then XDefiant is for you. Keep reading to see all details on the XDefiant release date.

XDefiant Release Date: When Will The Full Game Launch?
The release date for XDefiant was orignally announced for "Summer 2023" and it was widely presumed that would mean August. However, it recently turned out that we will have to wait longer for the game to finally come out.
In mid-September, a new statement by executive producer Mark Rubin on Ubisoft's website gave us an update on XDefiant's release date. According to Rubin, the game didn't pass the submission process to get the game on PlayStation and Xbox.
It was originally planned to release at the end of August, but that date had to be pushed back due to the failed submission. A new release date hasn't been officially announced yet, but it looks like we might already know it anyway.
The reputable leaker @TheMW2Ghost, who usually reveals info on Call of Duty (the name should be a giveaway), claimed that XDefiant will release on October 28. This has been corroborated by Insider Gaming, at least insofar as they have info that "suggests a launch event on October 28".
I've been told that xDefiant looks to be launching October 28th. I've been hesitant reporting on this for a little bit as it's not a game I cover.

It absolutely may change but as of now - there is a launch event for 28th.
Still, the date is not clear yet. Previously, the leaker el_bobberto claimed that the game would come out on October 17, the same date that the Call of Duty event "The Haunting" will launch. It's possible that Ubisoft has pushed the date back to avoid that clash. Either way, it looks like we'll finally get the full release of XDefiant in the second half of October.

What Platforms Will XDefiant Be Released On?
XDefiant will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X. So... basically everything next-gen. And before you ask, yes, there will be full crossplay functionality available from the day XDefiant is released. However, we don't yet know whether we can turn this feature off.
That's all the information Ubisoft has released so far concerning the XDefiant release date, but we will of course update this article as soon as we hear more. Until XDefiant is released, why not learn to play the best competitive shooter currently available?
