Since the new AC Mirage is out, we thought it's high time we put all the Assassin's Creed titles into one timeline for a bit more clarity on when which game is set.
With the release of Assassin's Creed Mirage, many fans are wondering when the long-awaited game is taking place. We already know that Assassin's Creed Mirage plays in Baghdad, but in which time period does the game take place?
Therefore, we decided to do you a solid, and created a timeline of Assassin's Creed 13 main series' games. This will be especially handy if you're looking to play the games in chronological order.
Assassin's Creed Timeline
1. Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Assassin's Creed Odyssey is the first one in our timeline, as it takes place from 431 BCE to 422 BCE. Odyssey's purpose is to complete the backstory of the Order, so if you are looking for a bit of lore, then this will definitely intrigue you.
- Time period: 431 BCE – 422 BCE
- Main Location: Ancient Greece
- Release Date: October 2, 2018
The game is one of the newer additions to the Assassin's Creed series, but if you want to play the games in chronological order, then this will be the place to start.
2. Assassin's Creed Origins
Assassin's Creed Origins came out before Odyssey and shows us the founding of the Assassins, although they were still known as the Hidden Ones back then.

- Main Location: Ancient Egypt

3. Assassin's Creed Mirage
Assassin's Creed Mirage is set nine centuries after AC Origins, where the Assassins are still known as the Hidden Ones and shows them fighting the Order in Baghdad.
- Time Period: 861 CE
- Main Location: Baghdad
- Release Date: October 5, 2023
The developers describe Assassin's Creed Mirage as such:
AC Mirage explores Basim backstory as a young thief growing up in 9th century Baghdad and offers new keys to understand the character, the game narrative can be fully appreciated without prior knowledge of the franchise context.

4. Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the next game in the series and takes us from Baghdad to the north of Europe. While you aren't a part of the Brotherhood yourself in AC Valhalla, you do work alongside them to fight against the Order of the Ancients.

- Main Location: England & Norway

5. Assassin's Creed
The beginning of an era: Assassin's Creed is the game that started it all and first introduced players to the series, and also to the conflict between the Assassins and Templars.

- Main Location: The Holy Land aka modern day Israel, Palestine and Syria

6. Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed II introduced us to Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a fan favorite of the series. This game shows us his beginnings in the Brotherhood, as he wishes to avenge the death of his father and brother.

- Main Location: Italy
- Release Date: November 17, 2009
7. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood takes place immediately after Assassin's Creed II ends. Ezio's story continues as he works to rebuild Rome's weakened Assassins Guild and also tries to find the Apple of Eden. Meanwhile, in the present day, Desmond and the other Assassins work to find the Apple of Eden as well to prevent the prophecy of the world ending.

8. Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Assassin's Creed Revelations brings an end to Ezio's storyline. While Ezio tries to figure out more about Altair's memories in Constantinople, to find out where the Apple of Eden is, Desmond fights to escape his comatose state.

9. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is technically a prequel to Assassin's Creed III, and takes us to the world of piracy. Edward Kenway, the game's protagonist, is pulled into the Assassin-Templar conflict after he accidentally kills an Assassin. In the modern day, we find ourselves playing a new character instead of Desmond.

10. Assassin's Creed Rogue
Assassin's Creed Rogue is the bridge between Assassin's Creed III and IV, where you play as Shay Patrick Cormac who went from an Assassin to a Templar and is now hunting down a Piece of Eden.

- Main Location: North Atlantic
- Release Date: November 11, 2014
11. Assassin's Creed III
Assassin's Creed III is set during the American Revolution. You play as Connor, and while the war rages on, you try to protect your tribe from the war, while also trying to protect the First Civilization's Grand Temple from the Templars.

12. Assassin's Creed Unity
Assassin's Creed Unity is set during the height of the French Revolution and follows Arno Dorian. While the game mostly focuses on the Assassin-Templar war, it also dives into the star-crossed lovers narrative of Arno and his childhood love Elise, who is on the side of the Templars.

13. Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Assassin's Creed Syndicate lets us play as the Assassin-twins Jacob and Evie Frye, continue the search for a Piece of Eden, while they battle against the Templars. If you're looking for a bit of Jack the Ripper/ Sir Arthur Conan Doyle fun, the DLC gives you just that!
