In trying times like these (adulthood in general), nostalgia is one of the few things that can help with a stressful everyday life. Apparently, Disney+ thought so too and brings back a show from the 90s: X-Men!

X-Men: The Animated Series is not only a must-watch for Marvel fans, it's also an amazingly faithful adaptation of the comic books and is one of those cartoon shows that had really complex character development, even though it was a kids show. Disney continues right where the original show left off 25 years ago with X-Men '97, coming soon to Disney+.

X-Men '97 | Release Window

The exact date has yet to be revealed, but the official release window for X-Men '97 is early 2024. That could be as soon as January 3 according to supposed leaks, but there has been no confirmation yet.

If patience is not your strong suit, you can get into the right mood for the upcoming show by rewatching the original on Disney+ or right here.

The first season will consist of 10 episodes, probably releasing weekly as Disney likes to do. And yes, you've read that right: the first season. Season 2 has already been green-lit and is in development:

X-Men '97 | Old & New Cast

Who is the cast to start recording season 2, you may ask? Mainly the original cast from the 90s to the fans' delight. The returning cast includes Lenore Zann, Cal Dodd, George Buza, Chris Potter, Catherine Disher, Adrian Hough, Alyson Court and Christopher Britton.

Lenore Zann, for example, will be voicing Rogue again and Cal Dodd will reprise his role as Wolverine, while other original cast members like Chris Potter or Catherine Disher (Gambit and Phoenix in the original) will take on new roles.

X-Men '97 | Plot

As X-Men '97 will directly continue the old animated series' story, which ended after five seasons (here's the last season at your leisure or directly at Disney+) with the X-Men ready to face more challenges after defeating Apocalypse. But there's always going to be more bad guys and the need for even more heroics.

The official synopsis reads:

Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister comes in to try to end the X-Men once and for all.

So make sure to keep an eye out for X-Men '97 in 2024 to see Sinister get his evil plans foiled yet again and get that sweet nostalgia kick!
