The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo's strongest franchises, that sold millions of copies, spawned multiple different highly praised titles, and has one of the most iconic protagonists in gaming history.

No wonder that fans were eagerly requesting a movie adaptation after seeing the recent success of the Super Mario movie! This might actually happen, according to a scooper, who revealed that Nintendo is apparently already working with Illumination to create the much anticipated Zelda movie!

Nintendo And Illumination Apparently Working On Zelda Movie

The Legend of Zelda is more hyped than ever before, with Tears of the Kingdom already being hailed as the game of the year. So you could argue that there has never been a better time to announce a live action adaptation of the beloved franchise.

Especially after the Super Mario movie has proven that video game adaptations can work and make bank in the process.

Despite this, there has been a back and forth whether the movie might actually happen.

Now some new rumors popped up, when a leaker called Zippo revealed, that Nintendo is already working on the first movie for the Legend of Zelda, as well as a Luigi spin-off.

So far, Zippo had a decent track record when it comes to Nintendo, but you should still consider that these are rumors.

In a blog post, Zippo claims to have some inside sources, which confirmed that Illumination is working on multiple new Nintendo projects, including the much anticipated Zelda movie.

I can independently confirm from my own sources that a Zelda movie and Luigi focused spin-off are all in production at Illumination.

From what I'm hearing, Zelda will be an amalgamation of very different Zelda games, rather than a straight adaption of like, say... Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, etc.

Also, yes, Link will speak.

While this would certainly get our hopes up, Zippo also states that with the WGA and SAG currently on strike, production in Hollywood has to "flat out shut down”.

Zippo also claims that Nintendo would have already announced their new projects in June, if not for the WGA strike.

If you don't want to play Breath of the Wild, here's the full recap of the story:
