LoL Patch 13.20: K'Sante Rework, Jax ASU & All Buffs, Nerfs

Almost unbelievable: LoL patch 13.20 is the 20th League of Legends patch of 2023! The months pretty much flew by in an instant. Still, there is a lot to look forward to, including a mini-rework for K'Sante and a Visual Update for Jax, as well as huge changes to the Jungle.

LoL Patch 13.20 is here and it's a big one. Riot is adjusting the jungle role and taking a look at snowballing in League of Legends. But there are a lot more changes to champions and items that will have an impact on your games.

For an overview of all changes from the previous patch that can still impact the game now, check this out:

LoL Patch 13.20: All Champion Changes

The most interesting thing this League of Legends patch is undoubtedly the Mini-Rework for K'Sante. Since his release, he has been practically impossible to balance. While he was hopelessly weak in solo queue at almost every Elo, he absolutely dominated the professional scene in 2023.

Now Riot seems to want to try shifting his focus a bit to make him a viable option for more LoL fans in their games. What else is on the agenda?

All Champion Buffs in Patch 13.20

Milio lol2
Milio doesn't just need a few buffs, he also needs a big hug... | © Riot Games

Milio is the newest support champion in League of Legends, and with his cheerful, carefree nature, he quickly won many hearts. His in-game performance was also impressive. However, in Riot's eyes, he seemed a bit too strong, which is why nerfs quickly followed. Now he can't keep up with the other supports, so buffs are more than appropriate.

Milio

  • Passive - Fired Up
    • On Fire: Burn damage now counts as Milio's damage even when applied through allies, allowing it to interact with a select number of items like Chemtech Putrifier. Burn damage will still grant the ally who applied the debuff the kill, preventing Milio from accidentally kill stealing confirming kills.
  • E - Warm Hugs
    • Cooldown: 18/17/16/15/14 seconds ⇒ 17/16/15/14/13 seconds
    • Shield Strength: 60/85/110/135/160 (+30% AP) ⇒ 60/90/120/150/180 (+30% AP)
  • R - Breath of Life
    • Healing: 150/250/350 (+30% AP) ⇒ 150/250/350 (+50% AP)

Morgana

Morgana is going to be getting some key adjustments to make her a viable jungler again. In the support role she has also been pretty underwhelming even though her ban rate is decent, so Riot is looking to give her some love this patch.

  • W - Tormented Shadow
    • Magic Damage per Second: 12/22/32/42/52 (+14% AP) ⇒ 12/22/32/42/52 (+17% AP)
    • Monster Damage Modifier: 155% ⇒ 165%
  • E - Black Shield
    • Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16 seconds ⇒ 26/23.5/21/18.5/16 seconds
  • R - Soul Shackles
    • Bonus Movement Speed: 5/30/55% while facing towards tethered enemies ⇒ 10/35/60% in all directions
    • Stun Duration: 1.5 seconds at all ranks ⇒ 1.5/1.75/2 seconds
    • Magic Damage: 150/225/300 (+70% AP) ⇒ 175/250/325 (+80% AP) (Note: this will still hit twice, once upon initial cast and a second time when the tether stuns)

Jinx

Jinx is recieving some buffs this patch as well. While she dominated the earlier parts of the year, she has since received multiple nerfs to her power, so now Riot feels confident enough to give her some love in hopes of making her a viable solo queue champion.

  • Base Stats
    • Health Growth: 100 ⇒ 105
  • P - Get Excited!
    • [NEW] Stacks on Stacks: The 25% bonus total attack speed gained from Get Excited! on takedowns now stacks.
  • R - Super Mega Death Rocket!
    • Cooldown: 75/65/55 seconds ⇒ 70/60/50 seconds
    • Minimum Damage: 30/45/60 (+15% bonus AD) (+25/30/35% of target's missing health) ⇒ 32.5/47.5/62.5 (+16.5% bonus AD) (+25/30/35% of target's missing health)
    • Maximum Damage: 300/450/600 (+150% bonus AD) (+25/30/35% of target's missing health) ⇒ 325/475/625 (+165% bonus AD) (+25/30/35% of target's missing health)

Galio

W - Shield of Durand

  • Cooldown: 18/17.5/17/16.5/16 seconds ⇒ 18/17/16/15/14 seconds
  • Shield Out-of-Combat Timer: 12 seconds ⇒ 12/11/8 seconds (levels 1/6/11)

Ziggs

  • Q - Bouncing Bomb
    • Explosion Hitbox: 150 ⇒ 180

All Champion Nerfs in Patch 13.20

There are some pretty interesting nerfs planned for this League of Legends patch, with some of the more popular picks getting nerfed, while some of the sleeper champions are also finally getting added to the nerf list.

Akshan

  • Q - Avengerang
    • Bonus Movement Speed: 40% ⇒ 20/25/30/35/40%
  • E - Heroic Swing
    • Damage per Shot: 30/45/60/75/90 (+17.5% bonus AD) (1 + 0.3 per 100% bonus attack speed) ⇒ 25/40/55/70/85 (+17.5% bonus AD) (1 + 0.3 per 100% bonus attack speed)

Bel'Veth

Bel'Veth has become one of the most talked about champions on Reddit in recent times. Now, Riot is going to try to make her a more late game focused jungler, as well as change her prefered build patch away from bruiser and fighter builds.

  • P - Death in Lavender
    • Bonus Attack Speed After Spell Cast: 25-50% (scales linearly based on level) ⇒ 20-40% (scales using stat progression multiplier)
  • E - Royal Maelstrom
    • [NEW] Critical Stabby Stabs: Damage from Bel'Veth's E can now critically strike.
    • Damage Reduction: 70% ⇒ 42/49/56/63/70%
    • Minimum Physical Damage: 8/10/12/14/16 (+6% AD) ⇒ 6/7/8/9/10 (+8% AD)
    • Minimum On Hit Damage: 6% ⇒ 8%
  • R - Endless Banquet
    • Remora Health: 40/50/60% of minion's maximum health ⇒ 20/45/70% of minion's maximum health
    • True Form Out-of-Combat Movement Speed: 25/50/75 ⇒ 10/45/80

Kai'Sa

Kai'Sa has become too easy to pick blind into other champions, so Riot is going to be nerfing her this patch to make her a bit more vulnerable.

  • Base Stats
    • Armor: 28 ⇒ 25

Quinn

  • Base Stats
    • Base Health: 603 ⇒ 565
    • Movement Speed: 335 ⇒ 330
    • Attack Damage Growth: 2.4 ⇒ 2.7

Zed

Finally some Zed nerfs... but are these enough to lower his ban rate of 30%?

  • W - Living Shadow
    • Cooldown: 20/18.5/17/15.5/14 seconds ⇒ 20/19.25/18.5/17.75/17 seconds

Jungle and Smite Adjustments in Patch 13.20

There will be quite a lot of changes to the jungle, since Riot believes this to be the strongest and msot impactful role in the game. They want junglers to spend more time in their own jungle rather than hopping from gank to gank, so there are some huge changes being made this time around.

Smite

  • Damage to Champions/Pets: 20-160 (levels 1-18) ⇒ 40 at all levels
  • Close Only Counts in Horseshoes, Hand Grenades, and Epic Smites: Smite now has 350 units of targeting forgiveness against Epic Monsters. This means if your cursor is near their model but not on top of another valid target it will act as though you are targeting them.
  • Damage Type: Spell ⇒ Proc (Note: this means that Smite will no longer trigger on-spell effects like Demonic Embrace, similar to Ignite)
  • Primal Smite AoE Damage when Smiting Monsters: 50% of Smite's damage ⇒ 100% of Smite's damage

Pets

  • [REMOVED] All Primal Smites: Junglers with Primal Smite no longer take 20% less damage from epic monsters when two or more allies are nearby
  • Jungle Companion Damage: 16 (+10% bonus AD) (+12% AP) (+10% bonus armor) (+10% bonus magic resistance) (+3% bonus health) true damage ⇒ 16 (+10% bonus AD) (+10% AP) (+20% bonus armor) (+20% bonus magic resistance) (+3% bonus health) (Note: the armor and magic resistance changes mean that bonus armor/MR will provide similar damage per gold to bonus health)
  • Companion Damage Radius: 900 ⇒ 650 (Note: this makes it less likely that your companion will damage Epic monsters while fighting Rift Scuttler)
  • Companion Heal per Second: 70% of damage dealt (note: this is unchanged)
  • [NEW] Companion Heal per Second Cap: Companion's heal per second is now capped at 12-45 (levels 1-12)

Gustwalker Hatchling (Blue)

  • While in a brush, gain 45% bonus movement speed, decaying over 2 seconds after leaving the brush. Killing a large monster increases this effect to 60% for 2 seconds ⇒ While in a brush, gain 30% bonus movement speed, decaying over 2 seconds after leaving the brush. Killing a large monster increases this effect to 45% for 2 seconds

Mossstomper Seedling (Green)

  • Shield: 60-281 (levels 1-18) ⇒ 180-300 (levels 10-18)
  • [REMOVED] Tenacity and Slow Resist: Mosstomper will no longer grant the user tenacity or slow resistance

Okay, technically, it's not just a visual update but what's called an "Art and Sustainability Update" that Jax has received. Because not only have his Splash Arts and in-game textures been reworked, Jax has also been re-voiced by his original voice actor!

In our view, his ASU is a complete success. Riot has managed to maintain Jax's identity in terms of visuals and sound while catapulting him into 2023 – with an overall concept that's truly worthy of this iconic champion.

Neo PAX Jax

For those of you who owned the original PAX Jax skin – kudos to you – but you will also be receiving the upgraded Neo PAX Jax skin for free. Other players who might want to get their hands on this skin will have to fork over 200 Mythic Essence with in the Mythic Shop.

Mythic Shop Update In LoL Patch 13.20

Riot is going to be adding some new skins into the mythic shop this time around and removing some of the older prestige skins we've been able to purchase. These skins should all be available on October 12, 2023 with cosmetics usually taking a day longer to be added and exchanged in the client.

  • Prestige Star Guardian Syndra
  • Prestige Ocean Song Seraphine
  • Prestige Dark Star Malphite
  • Prestige Porcelain Lux
  • Neo PAX Jax

LoL Patch 13.20: New Coven Skins in 2023

Last but not least, we can't forget about the new skins coming with LoL Patch 13.20. This time, a very popular skin line makes its return: new Coven skins are coming to the game! Let's see who made it into the lineup:

  • Coven Elise
  • Coven Syndra - Delayed
  • Coven Akali
  • Coven Nami
  • Coven Nilah
  • Old God Mordekaiser
  • Coven Akali Prestige Edition

The "regular" Coven skins will belong to the epic tier as usual and cost 1350 RP in the shop. There are two exceptions in this drop: Firstly, Coven Nami, who will receive her first legendary skin with a cost of 1820 RP. Then there's the Prestige Edition of Coven Akali, which will be available for either 125 Worlds Tokens or 2000 Event Tokens.

The skins will, as usual, be released on the live servers one day after the patch, on October 12, 2023 – most likely alongside the Worlds 2023 event!

Coven Syndra Delay

The Coven Syndra skin was not up to par for Riot's standards and the skins team has decided to take a while longer to make some key adjustments. Therefore, Coven Sydnra should be released in LoL Patch 13.21 instead.

That's all for now on LoL Patch 13.20! There will surely be more changes for the PBE server in the coming days, so be sure to check back!
