Leak: Modern Warfare 3 To Feature Classic Minimap Red-Dots, Ninja Perk & WW2's "War" Mode

An internal alpha for this year's CoD game is underway, and leaks are already emerging. Apparently Modern Warfare 3 will feature a classic minimap with red-dots, the Ninja perk, and even the "War" mode from CoD WW2.

Modern Warfare 3 is now in alpha testing, and the first substantial details are beginning to leak. All of this information is currently coming from two Twitter leakers: BobNetworkUK (who began leaking prior to MW2's release) and CoD_Perseus (who began leaking with a BOCW Zombies map). Both of these two seem to have legitimate sources, and they have been corroborating each other's information.

Right, let's get to the leaks!

Leaks Emerge From CoD: MW3 Alpha Testing: Red-Dots, Ninja & War

With internal playtesters now getting hands-on experience with Modern Warfare 3, a few key details have emerged. The following links may have been DMCA'd by the time you read this, but at the time of writing (July 17) we were given the following leaks:

  • We are returning to a classic minimap in MW3. This means that when you fire an unsuppressed weapon you will show up as a red dot on the enemy minimap.
  • The "Ninja" perk is making a comeback. This perk allows you to move very quietly around the map, and it's something most players missed in MW2.
  • The "War" mode from CoD WW2 will feature in Modern Warfare 3. In this mode one team has to escort a tank through a linear map while the other team have to stop them. As the defenders keep falling back, they get to set up new defensive positions at each checkpoint.

These would all be overwhelmingly popular features if we saw them come into effect. But, we aren't sure Activision will be happy. The changes effectively suggest that Sledgehammer think Infinity Ward made mistakes with MW2, and while many fans would agree, we all know how Activision will defend their golden child.

We will keep you updated on any further leaks emerging from the alpha playtest. Until then, why not check out what we already know about CoD 2024?

Hopefully we won't be dealing with this nonsense in MW3:
