Upgrading your weapon is a vital feature that you'll want to make use of in Lords of the Fallen. Making sure that you increase your weapons' potential in this Souls-like game will make your life a lot easier. But before you can upgrade your weapons, you'll have to find Gerlinde first.
In order to beat this Souls-like game Lords of the Fallen, you'll definitely want to make sure that your weapons are properly upgraded, whenever you get the chance. But in order to upgrade your weapons in Lords of the Fallen you'll first have to find the game's Blacksmith, Gerlinde.

Lords of the Fallen Weapon Upgrades: Where To Find Gerlinde
You can find and rescue Gerlinde the Blacksmith after you've successfully defeated Pieta, the first big boss of Lords of the Fallen.
Once you've defeated Gentle Gaverus, Mistress of Hounds, she should drop the prison cell key, and from there look for the Blacksmith Gerlinde in the prison cell. Your best starting point is at the Vestige of Blind Agatha. From there, head down the elevator and go down into the cave system. Then, go into the pit and defeat all the enemies in there.
Talk to her until you've exhausted all of her dialogue options, and then hand her the prison cell key. With that, you've successfully freed Gerlinde! She'll be able to help you upgrade your weapons from now on.

How To Upgrade Your Weapons & Equipment
As soon as you've freed Gerlinde from her prison cell, you'll be able to find her in the hub area at Skyrest Bridge.
Once you've found her blacksmith's shop at Skyrest Bridge, you'll want to go through all of her dialogue options once again. After you've finished talking to her, you'll be able to pick the "upgrade equipment" option.
Gerlinde will be able to upgrade not only your weapons, but also your shields, as well as other pieces of your equipment.
She'll need some Vigor and Deralium from you in order to do so, though. The size of your upgrade depends on the size of the Deralium Ores that you give Gerlinde. Here's how much each size of Deralium will upgrade your equipment:
- Small Deralium Fragment: Up to +3
- Regular Deralium Nuggets: Up to +5
- Large Deralium Shards: Up to +9
- Deralium Chunk: Up to +10
There are a couple of ways to get Deralium. You can either get Deralium by completing quests, defeating enemies, or simply by finding it in chests all over Mornstead.
