LoL: Infinite Fakers Incoming – Players Hate The Summoner Name Removal

Riot is going to be changing Summoner Spells for Riot ID, which has many players worried that everyone is going to simply pick the exact same name in the future.

Riot is going to be removing unique Summoner Names from League of Legends in the coming weeks. Instead, all players will be using their Riot ID with a unique tagline in the back. This means that players can have the same names, but the tagline can differ.

A lot of League of Legends fans are not happy with this upcoming change though, many believing that part of their uniqueness, some even going as far as to say their identity, will be gone after these changes.

LoL: Riot ID Instead Of Summoner Names – Players Are Not Happy

💡What is Riot ID?
Riot ID is a unique username or identifier used by players in Riot Games titles like League of Legends, allowing them to connect and play with friends and track their in-game progress across different games.

Riot is making some pretty unpopular changes these days and players feel like the company is completely out of touch with their players base. The change from Summoner Name to Riot ID has not gone over well with the LoL community, many voicing their distaste on Reddit (where else?).

The new change to Riot ID means that players will be able to have the same username, since the tagline in the back is going to be unique and set them apart from the rest. Unfortunately, this will mean that unique names are no more and many LoL players are upset that they're losing this.

About riot's username changes

You no longer have the feeling of unique identity belonging to you, if you thought of a unique funny username that you feel proud of, everyone else may use it, even in the same server.

Not only that, but a lot of players are also unhappy with the fact that this will mean they're going to have the same name in League of Legends as in VALORANT as well. So, if you've got a specific Summoner Name reflecting your playstyle or champion choice in League, you will have to have this name for VALORANT as well where it might make no sense at all.

Not only do players feel like part of their identity is being taken with this change, but they also believe that this is just some way for Riot to make money. Before players could change their Summoner Name using some of their Blue Essence, but now players can only change their Riot ID once a year and if they aren't happy with it, they'll have to fork over $10.
