With the release of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 we see the reveal of Megumi Fushiguro's dad, Toji. To nobody's surprise, Toji turned out to be an absolute badass, with a Heavenly Restriction that allowed him to compete with and nearly kill the one and only Honored One, Satoru Gojo.

At the end of their encounter though, it was Toji who ended up with a giant hole in his chest, but now he somehow made his return in Shibuya. How is that possible? Here's the explanation for how Toji Fushiguro returned in the Shibuya arc of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2.

How Did Toji Fushiguro Come Back In Shibuya?

The Shibuya arc of Jujutsu Kaisen is entering its main stages after the sealing of Satoru Gojo at the hands of Geto's...body. Now our main cast hast to figure out a way to handle the curtains and get to the Prison Realm to unseal the strongest and turn the tides of battle again.

In their way stands a group of sorcerers who allied with the disaster curses and the Geto impersonator. They just want to rid the Jujutsu world from Gojo, so they can freely commit crimes again, without the fear of being manhandled by Gojo, with his beautiful Six Eyes.

One of these sorcerers, Granny Ogami, has an innate technique called Séance, which allows her to transform her body, or that of a willing participant, into that of a deceased person.

Her cursed technique can come in pretty handy, especially if you have a peak specimen like Toji Fushiguro at your disposal, who's pretty much maxed out in physical stats, even more so than Yuji Itadori.

The problem is, that due to the Heavenly Restriction, Toji's body overwrites the soul of Ogami's grandson (who was used for the Séance) and the now revived Toji is out of control, quickly taking out Granny Ogami.

The tricky thing about the Séance, though, is that although Toji's body is now back, his mind is still gone, which means he's pretty much only operation on (mostly murderous) instinct alone.

Normally, the Séance would have ended with her demise, or as soon as the shape-shifter runs out of cursed energy, but since Toji's body is a special case due to the Heavenly Restriction, it didn't.

The thing is, Tojio's soul did not possess cursed energy and his body did not consume it, like at all, the marker by which the Séance Technique signals its end never existed in the first place.

With this set of irregular circumstances, Toji's body is allowed to run rampant, as a vessel of carnage, until it is destroyed, acting on instinct alone.
