Most of you have probably already been in contact with some form of social media. But just because you use social media doesn't mean you would make a good Social Media Manager.

However, there are some reasons why your background as a gamer could already put you ahead compared to other social media users.

Strategy

One thing a Social Media Manager must excel at is developing a strategy for the various social media channels they manage. It's important to have a strategy for the channels, not only to achieve a consistent representation, but also to gain more followers while retaining existing ones.

If you enjoy playing strategy games, you are already experienced in this area. Of course, the applications are different, but someone who can develop a good strategy in one area has a solid foundation for finding the right tactics in any situation.

Analytical Skills

To develop a proper strategy and evaluate it, the strategy must be based on some foundation. This is where the analysis of data from various social media channels comes into play.

With the help of various analytics tools, Social Media Managers can determine which posts are well-received and which are not. Strategies can then be developed based on this information.

For example, if you've played games like LoL or DOTA 2, you already know how to analyze a situation quickly to make the right item choices to perform well against opponents.

Research

As mentioned earlier, to develop a suitable strategy, there are other important tasks, including research. As a Social Media Manager, you must always be up-to-date in your field to avoid getting lost in the crowd. You must always be on top of things and develop a sense of what is important and what could be well-received.

As a gamer, you already know this to some extent. Is the next game from developer XYZ a flop or a hit? Do I need to buy new PC hardware to improve my game's performance, or is it a matter of optimizing the game?

You've probably asked yourself such questions, and if you're up-to-date in the gaming world, you can do the same in other areas.

Communication

Naturally, communication is key in the world of social media, and as a Social Media Manager, you must have a love for communication. You don't just create posts and videos; you also interact with the community, so you must have a knack for it.

In many multiplayer games, good communication is also crucial. So if you have good communication skills there, you'll likely be able to interact well with the social media community too.

Unless you communicate like most people in LoL. Then it could get tricky...
