Warzone Split-Screen: Can You Play Couch Co-Op?

Does Warzone 2 finally support split-screen? Call of Duty has long been known for having a very large console community. And what are consoles better for than cozy couch co-op? Let's see if Warzone 2 finally has split-screen.

Call of Duty is one of the few shooters that has a huge community on consoles – especially on PlayStation. Since consoles are usually hooked up to the TV in front of the couch somewhere in the living room, they're perfect for cozy co-op action. I mean, especially a game like Warzone 2, where team play as a squad against other teams is number one priority, would be perfect for co-op, right? But is that even possible? In the past, we could often play Zombies in split-screen with a buddy, but does Warzone 2 even have a split-screen mode?

How To Play Split-Screen In Warzone 2?

Unfortunately, Warzone 2, like its predecessor Warzone 1, does not provide the option for split-screen play, despite its focus on squad-based multiplayer. It remains unclear why a game designed for social gaming lacks this feature, but it may be attributed to its large scale and the diminishing importance of split-screen in modern gaming. Nowadays, most players have easy access to online multiplayer, making local split-screen modes less essential.

Still, we would have liked to get an option to play Warzone 2 in split-screen. After all, the Call of Duty multiplayer has had a split-screen mode since Call of Duty 2, and it still works today in CoD: Vanguard and also Modern Warfare 2. Besides the multiplayer, almost all zombies modes in Call of Duty offered split-screen, even if that has strangely changed with Vanguard.

Will Warzone 2 Get Split-Screen In The Future?

If we take a look at other big Battle Royale games, you might actually get your hopes up. After all, Fortnite started without split-screen support, but added this option later on at the request of the community. So is there still a chance for split-screen in Warzone 2?

Unfortunately, probably not. That's mainly because Raven Software and Infinity Ward already have more than enough to do with supplying Warzone 2 with new content and balance patches. On top of that, we didn't get a split-screen mode for the entire duration of Warzone 1, and we haven't heard anything about it since the launch of Warzone 2 either. So split-screen doesn't seem to be a priority for the developers at all. However, if enough players want a split-screen mode and are vocal about it, they might change their mind, after all, loadout drops have been reintroduced as well:

How To Play Warzone 2 In Couch Co-Op

It might sound unusual, but the only option for enjoying couch co-op in Warzone 2 requires two separate gaming setups with consoles and screens. If you wish to engage in Warzone 2 with a friend on the same couch, they must bring their own console, and you'll need an additional TV or monitor to connect it. Subsequently, your friend would need to connect to your internet, allowing both of you to partake in online Warzone 2 matches together from the comfort of the couch. It's undeniably a convoluted workaround, but regrettably, it's currently the only available solution.

As far as split-screen functionality in Warzone 2 goes, that's the extent of the information. However, if Raven Software unexpectedly introduces split-screen gaming into Warzone 2 in the future, we will promptly update this article accordingly.
