Castlevania: Nocturne has recently been renewed for a second season and while there have not been any official announcement, we think that there is enough of a basis to theorize that Dracula might make his return for Castlevania: Nocturne season 2.

Spoiler Alert!! If you haven't finished the first season, you might want to do that before continuing.

In Summary: Set during the French Revolution in 1792, Castlevania: Nocturne unfolds centuries after the original Netflix series. The show introduces us to Richter Belmont a distant descendant of Trevor and Sypha. Alongside his companions, Richter has to stop the Vampire Messiah from eating the sun and unleashing a catastrophic darkness upopn the world. The season ends with their defeat, as the sun goes dark and they have to be saved by Alucard.

Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 | Could Dracula Make His Return?

As the main antagonist of the original series, as well as a recurring threat within the games , it wouldn't be too far-fetched to think that Dracula might make a return in the sequel. But how and why would that happen?

One of the main indicators that Dracula might make his return was the tense season finale, which reintroduced an iconic character from the original series, Alucard. The return of Dracula's son could be an indicator, that the strongest vampire of them all might make his return as well.

On the other hand, Erzsebet Bathory provides enough of a challenge for the vampire hunters, as is, so the showrunners might not plan to bring back Dracula as an antagonist just yet.

Talking about Bathory, though, she made her first appearance as the final boss in Castlevania: Bloodlines . In the game, Dracula was her uncle and her ultimate goal was to revive him by setting off WWI.

It's not quite clear whether them being related or her goals transferred to the Netflix series as well, but one thing we know for certain is that as of Castlevania season 4, Dracula was not dead!

At the end of season 4 he was brought back to life by the Grim Reaper and disappeared with his wife Lisa.

As Castlevania: Nocturne is set several centuries after the story of the original series, it's not quite clear what happened since, but it seems kinda unlikely that Dracula was killed off-screen, but you never know.

Dracula might even make his return for Castlevania: Nocturne season 2 in an effort to help out his son for his fight against the almost god-like Erzsebet Bathory.

Considering how powerful Bathory appears, now that she assumed the name and mantle of the Egyptian goddess of war, Sekhmet, this might be the only option for the main cast to defeat her.

Sadly, we'll have to wait and see how things unfold, because as of now only the showrunners know how thing will unfold from here on out.
