This time around, a new species caught the attention of many players, right after HoYoverse released some more detailed information on the upcoming character Huo Huo! She has a little friend who, despite being attached to her, does look pretty different from Huo Huo herself!

Get ready for some spirit hunting!

Honkai Star Rail Lore: Who Are The Heliobi?

As I already mentioned, the Heliobi (singular: Heliobus) are a much lesser known species than the Foxians for example! This mainly results from the lack of visibility and the absence of characters from said species as of right now.

This however, may change pretty soon! One of the upcoming characters, Huo Huo, has a Heliobus friend called “Tail” — Well, “friend” doesn’t really explain their unique relationship, but they are most definitely bound to be together for the rest of their lives!

Heliobi: Relations

The Heliobi are also knows as “The Shapeless” or “Starfire Essence”. One of the closest relatives to the Heliobus species are the Wubbaboos, who can be found in Herta's Space Station from time to time.

This pretty interesting species is part of the fraction “Denizens of Abundance”, also known as the “Abominations of Abundance”, and have been blessed with immortality by the Aeon of Abundance.

The Flint Emperor

The Heliobi's leader goes by the name “Flint Emperor – The Primordial Flame” and can be found on the Flamedisk Forge Palace in The Xianzhou Zhuming, which is a flagship of the Xianzhou Alliance. (Just like The Xianzhou Luofu for example!)

Check out the Myriad Celestial Trailer “History of the Xianzhou Exodus of the Five Dragons” and find the Flint Emperor locked up behind bars:

After the Flint Emperor was defeated during the Heliobi Wars and chained up by the Xianzhou Alliance, this once so mighty leader is now imprisoned for the rest of his life. The Xianzhou Zhuming's citizen use the power of The Primordial Flame as a source of energy on their flagship.

Heliobi: Behavior & Physiology

That the Heliobi are also called “The Shapeless”, is due to their appearance or to be precise, to the absence of their appearance! These creatures are made of pure energy and do not have a set form at all! However, they like to take the shape of others by possessing their bodies, just like a parasite would do. They are quite picky about their host, and prefer a humanoid body.

The only way to find a Heliobus, is by using special electrical equipment, which can detect the electromagnetic waves they produce. The only time, a Heliobus wants to be seen, is when communicating with their host. Then, they normally appear in a ball of heatless, blue flames.

If you ask yourself why they love humans so much, the answer is pretty simple: We are easy to scare! — In order to generate energy, a Heliobus has to consume emotions, which satisfies them more than anything else. To tickle the desired emotion out of their host, they like to use rather unusual methods! They force certain behaviors on their afflicted person, such as for example: binge-eating, self-mutilation and or self-destruction.

I prefer NOT to be possessed by one of these creatures!

Although they may not seem like the most pleasant of companions, the Heliobi are an extremely intriguing species. Let's see how Huo Huo will get along with her little Heliobus!
