The Netflix show Elite is (finally) coming to an end. The streaming service recently announced that season 8 is going to be the last.
A murder mystery, high school drama and thinly-veiled social commentary; that's the Spanish hit Elite in a nutshell.
But when Season 7 hit the platform on October 20, Netflix announced that it was going to be the penultimate season of the show. That's right, Season 8 will be the last season of Elite that we ever get. To be frank, that might be for the best.
Season 8 WIll Put Elite To Rest
After seven seasons of high school drama and too many emotional rollercoasters to count, Netflix finally takes pity on the poor students of Las Encinas. With one last season to (hopefully) wrap things up, one of the longest running Netflix shows comes to an end.
The show has been on a steady decline when it comes to audience scores. Along with Riverdale, Elite has been one of those series that Netflix simply didn't want to end for some reason while other fan-favorite shows got a single season with a cliffhanger finale and a wet handshake as a goodbye.
Maybe that's why there's no plea for Netflix to reconsider their plans. Comments under the announcement on Twitter/X are more filled with mockery, relief and recommendations for Netflix to continue other shows instead:

There hasn't been a release date for the final season yet – which figures, as season 7 has only just hit Netflix. We'll keep you updated though as soon as we know when this "guilty pleasure" show finally ends!
