From now on, players should think carefully about the choice of their in-game-names. Riot is soon implementing a change where players will only be able to change their Riot ID once a year for free, instead of free monthly changes. For more changes, there is an additional fee coming up.
Due to the frequent name changes allowed in Valorant, a certain naming culture has emerged. Every Valorant player is familiar with the bronze "I miss her"-Jetts who can take you out in a flash. Or the cringe e-couple names, such as "His Donut" and "Her Glaze," who end up throwing your game. (We'll spare you the even cringier ones).

From November 20 Only Annual Free Change Of Riot ID
In order to feel more connected to your in-game name and to unify it among Riot titles, Riot announced on their website: by November 20 you are only allowed to change your Riot ID once every 365 days. Otherwise, there will be a $10 charge for each change. Until now, you could change it every 30 days.
What League of Legends players should also be aware of is that Summoner Names will be replaced with Riot IDs. According to Riot, this change is due to the Summoner Names no longer aligning with the game's lore.
Some believe using the lore as a reason is just an excuse and that the real reason is to generate more money.
Besides that, the community finds that the limitation could bring some negative aspects. One consequence of the change could be that esports players likely will forego adding their team names due to the limitation and they will lose a part of what makes them stand out.
Not only that, but these changes could also remove a fun factor from the game, with players unable to get creative with funny matching names like before.
