Oh, the exhilaration of young love and its accompanying whirlwind of emotions: that's Bridgerton for you. This Netflix sensation (along with its spin-off, Queen Charlotte) resonated deeply with audiences worldwide, leaving them yearning for another serving. And they won't be disappointed!

Inspired by the novels by Julia Quinn and brought to the screen by the dynamic duo of Chris Van Dusen and Shonda Rhimes, Bridgerton weaves together the passion, scandals, and most importantly, the romances of the Bridgerton family. A glimpse into the high society of 19th-century London — what could be better?

Well, how about more episodes of the beloved British drama? So brace yourselves, here's a comprehensive overview of everything we know about Bridgerton's eagerly awaited season 3, including the release date leak drama, the possible cast, plot and more!

Bridgerton Season 3: Release Date Leaked By Netflix, Set Straight By Lady Danbury

Fans were ecstatic when Netflix Portugal seemed to have overshared, announcing the release date of Bridgerton's season 3 to be December 14, 2023. The post has since been deleted.

Sadly, hopes of having Bridgerton season 3 in late 2023 have been crushed by none other than Lady Danbury herself. In an interview with Digital Spy, actress Adjoa Andoh took a page out of her character's book and just said it like it is: "Season three will be coming out next year. That’s been in the can for a while."

The cast generally is a way more trustworthy source than a possible accidental leak by some Instagram account, so it's pretty safe to say that Bridgerton season 3 will release in 2024.

Bridgerton Season 3 Will Revolve Around Colin And Penelope

I'm going to assume you're up-to-date with the show if you ended up here, but just in case you're not: spoiler warning!

Penelope's crush on Colin Bridgerton hasn't been subtle exactly, but Colin remains oblivious and has other plans. Penelope ends up broken-hearted at the end of season 2, losing both her crush and best friend Eloise.

There's only one thing left for her for the time being: continuing as Lady Whistledown, the OG Gossip Girl of the 19th century. How she'll handle the rejection and her scandalous society newsletter from there on will surely play a huge part in season 3.

Interestingly enough, the Penelope-Colin-situation happens earlier in the show than in the books. The show has been adapting one book per season which would have left the upcoming story for season 4, but no: book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton , will be season 3 of the show.

Bridgerton Season 3: Returning Cast And Exits

With the story's structure, it's kind of inevitable that some beloved characters and cast members will be featured less until they're gone for good. That's what happens with Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) as she won't be in season 3, according to Screenrant.

Her character has been less present in season 2 already, following the absence of Simon Basset (played by Rége-Jean Page) who left the show after season 1. That's something to live with in the Bridgerton universe: each season focuses on one of the siblings. Edwina (Charithra Chandran) also won't be returning.

The exits have been handled smoothly, though, and there are still other beloved characters to look forward to. Here's the list of the remaining main cast:

  • Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington
  • Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton
  • Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton
  • Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
  • Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
  • Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma
  • Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury
  • Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte

And of course, Julie Andrews will most likely continue as the voice of Lady Whistledown.

We'll keep you updated for any further news, especially regarding the exact release date as soon as there's one to report!
