So what are the best audio settings for Warzone 2? How can you make footsteps louder? And is there anything you can do to improve your audio setup?

Below, we've listed the best audio settings for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. We've also added a trick for PC players at the bottom called Loudness Equalization, which can make footstep audio even louder.

Loudness Equalization: How To Boost Footsteps Even More On PC

The above settings will be the most that those on PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S can do to improve audio. However, for PC players, there is an additional trick called Loudness Equalization that can be abused.

This little tool runs in the background, and it's not cheating, but what it does is reduce the volume of loud sounds and increase the volume of naturally quiet sounds. So it's great for boosting footstep audio, which is naturally quiet.

Just do this to turn on loudness EQ:

  1. Right-click the Speaker icon on your taskbar and select "Sounds"
  2. Select the "Playback" tab
  3. Right-click on your Default Device and select "Properties"
    Go to the "Enhancements" tab
  4. Click "Loudness Equalization"
  5. Press "Apply"

Easy-peasy! Now you can hear people coming from miles away.

How You Can Improve Audio In Warzone 2 & MW2

If you're looking to improve in Warzone 2, then boosting your setup can do a huge amount. The unfortunate fact is that good hardware gives you an advantage, just look at what scuf controllers can do with their extra paddles. But we've also got some tips for you that are completely free.

Don't Be Afraid To Tell Your Teammates To Shut-Up

This one can be a little more difficult than it seems. A lot of players have anxiety on the mic, but you need to get comfortable telling teammates to shut up, especially in the Gulag. If it's random players, or your friends, and they aren't giving good callouts, consider muting them in clutch moments. Obviously, good communication is a staple of good teamwork, but just listening out for footsteps can be more useful when an enemy is lurking around.

Reduce Background Noise

Obvious right? And we know this is unrealistic for those of you who have kids or pets, or have their console in the living room, but at the very least get yourself a cheap pair of headphones or a headset. Using the stereo from your TV puts you at an immense disadvantage against other players using headphones.

Buy A Good Headset

Last but not least, buy a decent headset, and you will notice improvements. For PC and Xbox users, there are literally thousands of great options out there, and good headsets don't have to be expensive. Also, many of the better and more expensive headsets come with their own software and the possibility to create your own profiles for different games. Some even have preinstalled shooter profiles that are definitely worth testing out.

Unfortunately for PlayStation users, Sony's 3D sound technology is only compatible with the Sony Pulse Bluetooth headset. It's pretty scummy, but that's the product you're going to want if you're playing Warzone on PlayStation. Luckily, the next three CoD games have been confirmed for release on PlayStation, but beyond that thefuture is less clear…

That's it for audio settings in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. If you're new to the game, we also recommend that you follow these steps:

  1. Once you've adjusted your audio settings, make sure you've also chosen all the best gameplay settings.
  2. If you can afford it, buy Modern Warfare 2 (for much faster weapon levelling).
  3. Wait until the next Double XP Weekend.
  4. Grind out all the S-Tier and A-Tier weapons for Warzone 2.

And since they leave it a few months between each weapon-balancing patch, you should be good to go with all of those weapons for a long while.

Hopefully these will be the same audio settings we get in the unexpected CoD 2023 title:
